Lori Bookstein Fine Art is pleased to announce a group exhibition of work by Lauren Bakoian, Joan LiPuma and Lawrence Webber. Comprised, as the title of the show suggests, of a group of artists who also work at the gallery, the exhibition will complement the gallery's main program.
Lauren Bakoian (b. 1970, Lynn, Massachusetts) studied printmaking at the Maine College of Art (B.F.A.) and Washington University (M.F.A.). Upon moving to NYC in 1995, she worked as a master printer and in 1996 she moved on to become office manager of the Printmaking Workshop. The artist says of her work, “Developing the images is akin to storytelling, although the images are primarily abstract. Process, materials and composition work together to realize the final images.” Past exhibitions include the National Academy Museum of Art, Brooklyn Public Library, VanDeb Editions, Sideshow Gallery, Janet Kurnatowski Gallery, and the Washington Art Association among others. She was awarded the S.J. Truman award for excellence in graphics from the National Academy Museum of Design. She lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
Joan LiPuma (b. 1958, Cleveland, Ohio) studied dance at Ohio University, Athens, OH and studied painting and glass at the California College of the Arts, Oakland, CA. From 1984-86 she studied at the Merce Cunningham Dance Foundation. LiPuma has worked in numerous artists studios including Larry Poons, Larry Rivers and most recently Jennifer Bartlett. She lives and works in Queens, New York.
Lawrence Webber (b. 1981, Cleveland, Ohio) received his M.F.A. from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, and his B.F.A. from Columbus College of Art and Design. He has been included in numerous exhibitions including most recently, Summer Paper, at Lori Bookstein Fine Art. For the last five years Webber has also worked at the studio of James Nares. He lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
