Lori Bookstein Fine Art is pleased to announce the exhibition of one new sculpture by John Crawford. This is the artist's second solo show at the gallery.
You come to my studio with fresh eyes. This time, despite the chaotic environment of machines and sculpture, you remain focused on the connective tissue of rings. We hoist it up it as if from sleep, as it transitions it seems animated. I’m still surprised that this formless web composed with a single simple shape can produce such strong and varied associations.
- John Crawford, January 1, 2016
A(R)MOUR marks a new phase in one of Crawford’s ongoing explorations, recalling interest in accretions of deceptively simple forms, and reaching toward unexpected variations of pattern and movement.
John Crawford: One Sculpture is presented in anticipation of a forthcoming exhibition of the artist’s sculpture, scheduled for the fall of 2016.
John Crawford (b. 1953, New York) received his BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1975. In 1976 he moved to Italy where he apprenticed at a blacksmith shop in rural Tuscany until 1986.
